About B&M Joiners
B&M Joiners is a joinery business based in Canonmills, Edinburgh, run by Danny McGuinness. Since 1970, the business has made fitted kitchens, libraries, home offices, wardrobes and other bespoke joinery for homes across Edinburgh and the Lothians. It carries out loft conversions, garage conversions, sunrooms, house renovations and architectural joinery for period properties and listed buildings. Commercial work includes property maintenance for factors, housing associations and offices.
Through its subsidiary company Sash & Case Windows Direct, B&M Joiners repairs, restores and replaces traditional sash and case windows in conservation areas and period properties. Secondary glazing is installed to reduce heat loss by up to 65 per cent and noise by up to 80 per cent. The business uses Repair Care techniques to preserve original timber features, reducing carbon emissions by as much as 90 per cent compared with replacement.
Work starts with a visit to assess the property and discuss the client's vision. Designers work with craftspeople to create joinery made to measure. Rooms are kept tidy during work, and furniture is returned to its original place after installation. B&M Joiners has traded since 1970 and holds Platinum Accreditation from Zero Waste Scotland, fully offsetting its carbon emissions. Danny McGuinness took over in 2007 from founder Duncan Middlemass.
