About Newmans Joinery
Newmans Joinery is a joinery business based in Bath that has been making joinery since 2015. The workshop employs a team of six craftsmen led by workshop manager Chris, who has over 30 years of experience as a joiner in Bath. The owner, Roland Newman, is a qualified carpenter with an honours degree in Construction Management and a postgraduate diploma in The Conservation of Historic Buildings from Bath University.
The business manufactures and fits windows and shutters, doors and gates, staircases, fitted furniture such as wardrobes and kitchen units, and garden buildings including sheds, greenhouses and conservatories. Window refurbishment services include replacing timber and glass, draught proofing and repairs to historic sash windows. Newmans is an approved installer of Fineo vacuum glazing, which retrofits into old timber sash windows to improve heat retention. The business also offers in-house decoration and site fitting services.
Newmans works with a range of timbers including Accoya, Douglas Fir, oak, tulipwood and redwood, aiming to use sustainable materials wherever possible. The business covers Bath and has worked on Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian townhouses, churches, cottages and contemporary homes throughout the city. Projects begin with consultation to discuss requirements and approach, followed by design and construction at the workshop, then fitting and finishing on site. Newmans Joinery is a member of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
